Vote on your (least) favorite quotes!

Expanding on our new channel quotes system, we've added a new feature that allows registered users to vote on quotes using ChanServ's QVOTE command. As with other quote features, channel owner's may also impose restrictions on who can vote on quotes using the SET QVOTELEVEL option for their channel. For more information on both of these features, see /msg ChanServ HELP QVOTE and /msg ChanServ HELP SET QVOTELEVEL.

Additionally, the output of displayed quotes has slightly changed. Now, a votes overall score is shown after the quote id. The first number in parentheses is the quote's score, while the second number is the number of times the quote has been voted on -- or, in other words, the maximum possible score the quote could have attained.

Channel Quotes System

We're pleased to announce that we have launched a channel quotes system. Phase 1 of 2 is now live on the network. Most of you have probably already seen quote bots in various IRC channels, but as of now all registered channels on DareNET have their own quote database.

The channel quotes system is built into ChanServ, and includes the following commands:

QUOTE

This command is used to search and view quotes from the channel's quote database. Channel owners can configure who can use this command by using the new SET QVIEWLEVEL option for the channel.

.quote

Displays a random quote from the channel's quote database.

.quote <quote id>

Displays the quote for the specific quote id given.

.quote search <string>

Displays a list of ids for quotes that match the given search string. For example, using ".quote search apple" would return a list ids for quotes that have the word *apple* contained in them.

.quote author <nick>

Displays a list ids for quotes that were added by the given nickname.

.quote count

Displays the total number of quotes in the channel's quote database.
